Queen Latifah officiated the marriage of 33 couples both straight and gay yesterday at the Grammy awards. Reports by Necole Bitchie states the details below.
The Grammys had a few memorable moments tonight, but nothing could have topped what Macklemore was preparing for his ‘Same Love’ performance. After he finished up his verses on the monstrous hit, 33 couples flooded the aisles of the Staples Center as Queen Latifah officiating their wedding ceremony in front of tens of millions of people who were tuned in to the Grammys around the globe. Afterward, Queen told the press:
It was something I took very seriously, that is someone’s life commitment to one another, you want to make sure you do it right. That’s what sunk in for me. To have your wedding in front of 100 million people is pretty momentous. I can say I was here and that will not leave me. I look forward to dashing off and signing all their wedding certificates.
Madonna also was a part of the monumental moment! She helped bring the performance to a close by performing her 1986 track, ‘Open Your Heart’.
