Ghanian actress Yvonne Nelson is in a bitter exchange of words with on-air personality KKD and Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) over the bleaching talks by the presenter.
According to Ghanaweb, the whole drama started a few weeks ago KKD who was a visiting panel member on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show stated in his contribution that Yvonne Nelson has changed in complexion considering her Miss Ghana days and now.
In one of her responses to the issue of lightening her skin, Yvonne said with sarcasm on her face to KOD (cousin of KKD): “And I heard that KKD said in an interview that I have bleached my skin. I am so disappointed in him”.
She also spent time addressing the issue of her ban from acting by the Film Producers Association of Ghana, FIPAG.
Yvonne Nelson revealed that Ghana Actors Guild, of which she is a member, did nothing for her – solving the issue.
She however named Majid Michel, Frank Rajah and Fred Nuamah as the only people who showed concern. “When my issue came up, the Actors Guild did nothing for me. They only came, sat, had some meetings and that was all. They did nothing for me. I kept quiet but have to come out finally.”
She also said that many of her colleagues were happy that she had been banned because it meant that they would get more roles for themselves.
Her comments further infuriated GAG Nii Odio Mensah the President of the Guild in his response to Yvonne's statement about the guild not being supportive during her plan came out to say, "if Yvonne Nelson really said that, then she is a very ungrateful person and I would be very disappointed in her. If she was able to say that the Actors Guild did nothing for her when FIPAG banned heir, then I have to fear human beings. How can she say such a thing when there are records, witnesses and documents to prove that the Guild did a lot for her when the issue came up?
"I personally like that actress a lot so when her issue came up, we went out of our way and held several meetings with FIPAG, pleading with them to drop the ban. You can call any executive of FIPAG to ask about this and they would tell you that the Actors Guild was very instrumental in get-ting the ban reversed.
"Meanwhile Yvonne Nelson would not even attend meetings or pay her dues. But we still stood behind her, pleaded on her behalf and got the ban reversed," Odoi Mensah dis¬closed on Neat FM Tuesday morning.
Socrates Safo, who was the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for FIPAG at the time Yvonne was banned, also confirmed that FIPAG revoked the ban on the actress because of the pleas from the Ghana Actors Guild.
During the arbitration, there was a time FIPAG even got angry with the Actors Guild for being over protective-of Yvonne and defending her when she would not even attend any of - the mediation meetings in per¬son, Socrates said.
