Émotions Déchaînées (Unchained emotions): It Is Not Over Until It Is Over

We have all at one time in our life or another been disappointed or given up on getting or achieving a goal. Two days back i was going through instagram when i saw photos of Nollywood actress Susan Peters' wedding. I went down memory lane and remembered how she had been mocked on social networks for being single at an advanced age (according to silly people who think any woman above 30 years old is long overdue for marriage). I always loved her spirit and how she ignored a lot of backlash and cyber-bullying. I have never met Susan but she is a living proof that God would put those who mock us to shame.

Back to where i started from, overcoming disappointments or trying to reach your goal is not easy. Sometimes the trials and travails of life pulls you back and you feel like laying there to cry your eyes out. Sometimes you feel the world has forgotten you and you are undesirable, get over it my darling. Remember, it is not over until it is over. Sometimes God denies us of certain things because he has something better to give us or to save us from certain misfortune.

Take my friend Dennis for instance, he had a job in a new generation bank, the pay was good, his fortune changed in a year for the better. Dennis had been unemployed 3 years after his NYSC. While working one day, his boss requested to see him. On getting there he met three police officers and two of his colleagues. There had been a case of missing funds in the company and poor Dennis had been set up by his envious colleagues who were responsible for the theft. He was arrested and kept in prison for three months and while he was there, one day he met a lady who was a member of a missionary group that visits prisons. Lisa took interest in Dennis case after he narrated his ordeal to her during her visit. She promised to get back to him and for 2 months Dennis heard nothing from her, he had given up hope of ever being released or having his case heard by a judge. It was like God had forgotten him, then one day he got a message that he had been released and a letter was handed to him. While Dennis had thought all hope was lost, Lisa had been trying hard to seek justice for him. The people who set him up had confessed and were now in police custody. Unknown to him, Lisa was the daughter of an ambassador to Nigeria. After Dennis left prison, he and Lisa reunited and he got a far better job with a multinational firm in Canada even though his old employers wanted him back, he got something far better than they could have ever offered. Dennis started earning in 2 months what he would have earned in 1 year if he had remained in that bank. He and Lisa remains good friends till date.

Moral of both stories is that no matter how difficult life is, it could have been worse. Do not give up on life because you are not seeing any positive change at the moment. We see gold jewelry and we admire it but we forget the fire and pounding it goes through to reach that glam stage we cherish. Life is a gift and each morning when we open our eyes, God gives us a new gift (Life). We are human and sometimes we wonder why A is happy and has all going for him but u aren't, i tell you my sister, all would be well soon and very soon. Even when we are faced with physical, emotional, health, financial, academic and spiritual challenges, we should never give up on life or love.
