It’s so hard out here in the streets trying to make ends meet that there are rappers’ mamas robbing bank for a piece of change.
According to CBS Miami, a 63-year-old lady named Gail Simpson, was arrested on Tuesday after attempting to rob a Wells Fargo Bank in Florida. The woman is already on probation from an attempted robbery earlier this year, so you already know she’s looking at doing some real time on this bank job.
Simpson allegedly walking into the bank at around 3:30 p.m. and demanded money from the bank employee. Federal officials said she got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery but no one was injured.
According to a tip, Gail Simpson is the alias of deceased rapper Big Pun’s mother Gail Tirado. (A few people search sites verifies this). She was also “allegedly” distraught over the family’s fruitless efforts to recover royalties and revenues owed to the estate of Big Pun when the robbery occurred . Allegedly those monies were stolen by rapper Fat Joe and legendary producer John “Jellybean” Benitez.
In a lawsuit that was filed back in 2009, Big Pun’s wife claims that his family had been forced to live in a homeless shelter after exhausting all of their finances from efforts to try to stop Fat Joe and other unnamed parties from profiting off the deceased rappers’ music and likeness. Fat Joe responded with the statement:
Immediately after Puns death I gave Liza Rios the whole advance of the Endangered Species album, NO ONE but Liza made a dollar off that album. I also gave her the total advance from the publishing company that was due to Big Pun.
I’ve never made a dollar off Big Pun since his passing. This was hundreds of thousands of dollars of frivolous spending, after the second payoff I washed my hands. Since then we have been through 6 lawyers, harassment on various radio stations and online mediums every time she needs more money. I also have legal documents stating that NO ONE is making money off of Big Pun.
I sympathize with Liza, but I have done already done enough for her. In these economic times we as parents need to be resilient and do what it takes to provide for our own families.
Pun’s wife Lisa filed another lawsuit last month according to TMZ:
Liza Rios is beside herself … she says in a new lawsuit — obtained by TMZ — hubby Big Pun had a deal with Fat Joe to split the fortune Pun made from songs like “I’m Not A Player.”
Liza says a few years after her 700-pound husband died from a heart attack in 2000 … Joe turned off the spigot and she hasn’t gotten a penny since 2005 … even though the records continued to sell.
It’s especially maddening for Liza, because Fat Joe released posthumous albums years after Big Pun died.
She wants more than a million bucks.
If all of this is true, and that’s really Big Pun’s mom, it’s sad that she had to resort to robbing a bank for cash.
The lady walked in all cool with no mask or anything.
