Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead of Apparent Drug Overdose in Manhattan Apartment at Age 46: Family Releases Statement

The family of Philip Seymour Hoffman released an official statement, saying: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."
Philip Seymour Hoffman's illustrious life and career came to an abrupt end on Sunday, Feb. 1 when the 46-year-old actor was found dead in his Manhattan apartment in the West Village, the NYPD confirms to Us Weekly. (The Wall Street Journal was the first to report this.)
Hoffman was discovered alone in his bathroom at 11:30 a.m. in his apartment at 35 Bethune Street.
The New York Post reports that cops claim Hoffman passed away from an apparent drug overdose. In May 2013, the Oscar winner entered rehab for a 10-day stint after relapsing following more than 23 years of sobriety.
Hoffman is the father of three children -- daughters Tallulah and Willa and son Cooper -- with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell.
The actor was currently filming the final installment of the Hunger Games series as gamekeeper Plutarch Heavensbee, Mockingjay: Part 2, which is set to come out in 2015.
He won the 2006 Oscar for Best Actor for his lead role in Capote.

N.B. New reports shows that he died of heroine and a large amount of the hard drugs were found in his apartment. It is very sad, may his soul rest in peace.
