How To Be A Boss Chic & Win In A Man’s World

I started watching the television series ‘Empire’ a while back and some of Cookie’s quotes and actions got to me. This is one lady who stands for what she believes in and never takes NO for an answer. That is exactly how every lady should be like. Sitting in your comfort zone and talking thrash about how your family members, friends and lovers do not regard you won’t change your status from Broke ass to Boss chic. Crying on your pillow at night because the man who you gave your innocence walked out on you for a groupie would not win you the heart of the dashing and successful entrepreneur you admire. Having a baby or kids out of wedlock would not stop you from being desired and respected by the society so why do you have to beat yourself up?

Hey! Ladies we cannot get the change we desire and clamour for if we are not ready to rebrand ourselves. We all have to shut the fuck up and change our mind set. Have you noticed that men are like the nomadic Fulani they are always ready to move from pillar to post to achieve their goals and dreams. They would never take No for an answer and do not care whose feeling is hurt to get to their desired position (not advising you hurt people but you have to put YOU first). The world is not fair and no one would hand you your dream career, job, relationship or anything on a plate of God. Yo girl! You have to work your butt off, be wise, play your cards right and never forget to put GOD first.

So now for those who are still confused on what to do to be a Boss and win in a Man’s World, here are the steps to take.

1.  Moveeeeeee: You have to be willing to keep moving and leave your comfort zone if you want to stand out. You cannot keep being in mummy and daddy’s house yet expect to fly. Most African parents would give you a million reasons why you should not leave home, they love the feeling of having their children close to them. I am not saying you should disrespect your parents or make silly decisions & moves but you should be brave and bold enough to follow your dreams. Change locations if it is necessary.

 2.  Network: “Your Network is your Net Worth.” Yea that quote is real and should be applied to every aspect of your lie, make good contacts and have friends in low & high places. You need to socialise and be friendly. You need everyone from the pot-belly gateman in a business firm to your to the pretty P.A. of the CEO. In this journey of achieving your goals, no one should be ignored. Every contact is important and you have to keep networking because that P.A. you are being rude to, can be the one to put in a word for you when looking for a job or contract.

        4.   Socialize: Baby girl you need to dust your shoes and rearrange your closet. If need be, you should go and get more outfits because 2015 is the year you would sing “I’m coming out, I want to world to know, I’m cominggggggg.” Lol. Yes call me crazy but beloveth that is the truth, while you are busy complaining about why guys are always in social gatherings, they are busy meeting people and expanding their network (yea socializing and networking go hand in hand). Attend parties, sports activities (road walk, hiking, join a gym), join a group in church, and any platform you can meet new people and have fun.

  4.  Learn: You should never stop learning till you take your last breath. Learning exposes you to new things. Try and learn a new skill, new language, get another degree, attend seminars and symposiums. Knowledge is power and no knowledge is a waste. “Beauty will get you into the room but it takes intelligence from getting kicked out.” So ladies remember you should not think because you are pretty the world would bow at your feet, you have to be endowed up (brain) there too.

  5.  Manage your emotions: This is the biggest weakness of most women. We are very emotional and easily carried away. To be a Boss chic, you have to be hard as ice and be ready to move on after a fall. Yes your heart got broken or you ended up having a child out of wedlock that should not stop you from forging ahead in life. You should dust yourself up and chase your dreams. Guys don’t lock themselves indoor for months and years when they are emotionally hurt, they move on and act like nothing ever happened. Ladies think and act like a man. You should read self-help books and visit websites that would help boost your self-worth. If something is upsetting you, cry about it tonight because you have to make it right in the morning.

  6.  Spend less and save more: Women love to buy and spend money on so many things. Women love the finer things in life and would rather buy first before thinking of saving. Rather you should have a budget and make a list of the things you need most (scale of preference) not things you want. This would help you save up for that business you want to invest in and be financially stable. So before you start blaming that guy for being stingy, you should remember he is planning and you too should. Everyone respects an independent woman and you cannot be a boss chic if you keep being asking for hand-outs.

    7.  Look good: There is this Nigerian slang that states, “Packaging is everything”. It means looking good means a lot. You should dress the way you want to be addressed. Pamper your skin, wear clothes that flatter your stature and hairstyles that suit your face. Dress according to the occasion and walk with elegance. Turn heads and break necks *wink.

Many would read this post but few would change their lifestyle and be a boss chic. “THE STREETS AIN’T MADE FOR EVERYONE, THAT’S WHY THEY MADE SIDEWALKS.”-Empire.
For those who are tired of being in stagnation and desire CHANGE and have already started working on the points here, I wish you all the best and i pray you achieve your dream. Love you all.

Thanks for reading and please reshare!!!!!
