Number plate: Deadline remains June 30 –FRSC

You all should please hurry and register for your new number plate before the june 30 deadline to avoid cat and mouse race between you and the authority *hehehe*

According to reports by Sun news, The Corps Marshal, Mr. Osita Chidoka, who spoke through Assistant Corps Marshal, Victor Nwokolo, Head of Special Marshal and Partnership Development, denied that the closing date for the revalidation of old number plates had been jettisoned. Nwokolo, who was in Katsina for the sensitization of stakeholders on motor vehicle administration drive, advised that vehicle owners in Katsina State should not wait until June before getting the new number plates to avoid un-necessary chaos at designated centres.

He charged applicants for number plates and drivers’ licences to shun the use of touts or purported agents to avoid the risk of obtaining fake number plates or drivers’ licences.  “There are fake number plates. Some arrests have been made in some states. Those with fake number plates are going to be arrested, prosecuted and jailed because they are security threats to the country,” said Nwokolo. He stressed that applications for number plates and drivers’ licences should be filled online through the relevant portals before applicants proceed to the Board of Internal Revenue to complete the process. He also warned that vehicle registration remained incomplete unless vehicle owners use a valid insurance policy for each category of vehicles.

The FRSC chief further disclosed that banks and other institutions using driver’s licence for identification purposes had been empowered to confiscate fake ones when presented to them and arrest their owners. His words: “How do you know a fake driver’s licence? It can be verified by also going to that web site: www.nigeriadriv-erslicence.org while on-line vehicle registration number plate verification is through: www.nvisng.org.”
